THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS UPON US!

Posted on November 02, 2018 by AUTHOR (edit in theme settings)

Christmas is only a little over 7 weeks away! I love the transition from early fall to holiday season. Personally, I love cozy sweaters, layered outfits, and boots. The chill in the air just brings a little extra joy to me as I choose my wardrobe for the day. At GGM, we have those extra fall/winter casual pieces you have been craving to wear.

However, what truly makes my heart flutter is the sound of my family enjoying conversation around the Thanksgiving table and opening their gifts on Christmas morning! Hence, surrounding yourself with family and friends makes this the BEST time of the year!

As you begin your adventure into the shopping season, please keep us in mind for those Christmas party frocks, gift items, and more! Yes, we are best known for our prom, pageant, bridesmaids, and MOB dresses; however, during the Christmas season, we stock the store with great gifts!

Come see us in the historic Rose District in Broken Arrow!

'Twas the Nightmare Before the Christmas Party

Posted on October 31, 2017 by AUTHOR (edit in theme settings)

What to wear to a Christmas or New Year’s party/event can be one of the biggest fashion nightmares! This time of year should stir up much joy in us. The family gatherings, friend get-togethers, office parties, and holiday galas give all of us something to look forward to. However, have you ever wondered what attire you should wear to that special event? You may ask yourself' "I don't want to show up over-dressed, under-dressed, or out-of-fashion." Showing up decked out in an ugly Christmas sweater when everyone else at the event is wearing cocktail dresses can feel horrifying.  I have noticed that even when "experts" in the fashion etiquette field are asked about event dressing, they often preface their answers with "usually".  I am hoping that I can clear up that "what should I wear" confusion with this simple list & fashion forward examples that follow.

 MOST formal to LEAST formal:

  1. WHITE TIE - Long, floor length formal evening gown.
  2. BLACK TIE - Floor length evening gown or your dressiest cocktail dress.
  3. CREATIVE BLACK TIE - Floor length evening gown or dressiest cocktail dress with creative, fun accessories.
  4. BLACK TIE OPTIONAL - Floor length gown, dressy cocktail dress, dressy little black dress, or dressy separates.
  5. SEMI-FORMAL - Short cocktail dress, little black dress, long dressy skirt and blouse, or dressy separates.
  6. FESTIVE ATTIRE (usually for the holiday season) - Cocktail dress, little black dress, long dressy skirt and dressy pants outfit, dressy separates, holiday accessories and colors.
  7. BUSINESS FORMAL - Suit, business style dress (structure), dress with a jacket, low or high heels (always abide by your company's dress code)
  8. BUSINESS CASUAL – Skirt, pants, open collar shirt, knit shirt, or sweater, casual style dress (typically no spaghetti straps or low necklines).
  9. DRESSY CASUAL - Dress, skirt, or slacks and dressy top, nice jeans and a dressy top.
  10. CASUAL - Sundress, short or long skirt, khakis or nice jeans, shorts are dependent on                              climate and occasion, plain t-shirt or polo

When styling for your next Christmas or holiday event, remember to keep it classy. If you want to look festive, by all means go for it but keep it simple. For instance, if you are wearing a holiday accessory, wear one fun piece, don’t overdo it. When wearing sequined separates, be sure to break up the shine with a neutral piece. Always play up the special elements of each ensemble. Ask yourself, “What part of this outfit do I want to emphasize?”

As you look forward to 2018, rich, luxurious fabrics will adorn boutiques. Velvets, brocades, satins, and metallic laces will be helping you ring in the new year! ENJOY!

All the following dresses may be found at GGM:

The intricate lace of this gown creates a very formal look for any white or black tie event. The lace is embroidered with metallic thread and crystals for a vintage yet stunning design.

Off-the-shoulder necklines are still all the rage this season! This sihlouette would be appropriate for any white or black tie occasion.

Sequins and velvet are back and perfect for your holiday cocktail parties!  The sequins on this burgundy cocktail dress (left) create a figure-flattering allover pattern.  On the right, an a-line delicately embroidered tulle skirt is topped with a rich black velvet halter for an upscale LBD!

This strapless cocktail dress is constructed of a beautiful brocade fabric. Brocade fabrics add texture and interest to a dress. It “dresses up” a piece without the added beads and sequins.

A Few of Our Favorite Things...

Posted on March 07, 2016 by AUTHOR (edit in theme settings)

The ladies here at GGM are in the midst of Prom Season!

To say dresses are flying off the rack would be an understatement.

We love our GGM customers and have gotten to know some of you throughout the years. We would like to introduce some of the 2016 Prom GG M staff to you and give you a little insight into their personal styles and favorite gowns.

Kellie Blanton- Owner

Kellie started Glamour Gowns & More in 2011 and has been dressing girls in gorgeous designer gowns ever since.  She loves interacting with her customers and meeting new people. She is one of the most generous people you will meet. Her passion for building up girl’s confidence and making them feel beautiful is obvious.  Kellie has seen thousands of gowns and, this year, one of her favorite dresses we have here in the shop is a Jovani ball gown. This gown is an A-line fit with a black V-neck bodice and a great hot pink satin skirt (with pockets) this gown has it all. Kellie states: “I visualize this classic ball gown on a young lady who would like to walk the red carpet in elegance like Audrey Hephurn.”

Jenny Blanton- Manager

Jenny has worked alongside Kellie since the start of Glamour Gowns and is the Queen of inventory control and buying! If you want to know if we have a dress in our shop, OR if we can order a certain style, Jenny is your girl! She is full of knowledge and will try her very hardest to find you your dream dress. One of Jenny’s favorite gowns this season is Sherri Hill’s 50151. This gown is the total package with beautiful feminine lace and a Bohemian embroidered bodice. Jenny says “I love everything about this dress! The neckline, lace, and embroidery all complement each other, creating the perfect vintage look!”

Coye Queen- Sales

I have worked at GGM for three years and I absolutely love helping girls find their perfect prom dress. My style is eclectic and edgy. The dress I love this year would be Jovani’s 21899. This gown is form fitting and has full coverage in the front and an open back, topped with a fun and unexpected ruffle. This gown is just stunning on the right girl, it really shows off your curves and I love the colors it comes in (black ALWAYS being my favorite)!

Jennifer Franks- Sales

Jennifer has been with GGM for 2 years and loves playing dress up and making girls feel like the princess they are! She has a good amount of dress experience and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to fit, material, and design. Her personal style is girly, classic, and anything with great color or sparkle! One of Jennifer’s favorite dresses this season was MacDuggal 20020 this rich gown was made out of deep purple velvet and had a decedent cascade of crystals and pearls that covered the front of the gown from the neckline to the floor. With such a beautiful design and detail this gown was absolutely meant for a Queen!

Christina Walker- Sales/Greeter

Christina has also been with the GGM team for 2 years and is full of personality and spunk! She is our designated Greeter on our hectic prom Saturdays and keeps all us girls organized! Christina’s fun loving, outgoing personality makes customers feel excited to be purchasing their gown for their special event! One of Christina’s many favorites this year is Sherri Hill’s 50205 Audrey length red floral gown. This great dress is a strapless satin bodice and has a perfect A-line skirt. The skirt is covered in Alice in Wonderland roses and has a fabulous ankle length. So find a great pair of shoes and come purchase this stunning floral print dress!
